Richfield Minnesota is located right between Downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. The south eastern part of the city has the Mall of America right next door, the western side of the city is located next to Southdale Shopping Center, and the eastern side borders on the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Richfield has a population of about 35,000 residents who live within seven square miles of neighborhoods, parks and shops. The community is focusing on commercial and residential redevelopment, taking advantage of its location near major freeways. Interstate 494 is the southern border, 35W runs right through the middle of the city and 62 runs to the north which gives it viable access to major roads almost anywhere within the city. Best Buy corporate headquarters is located on the southern part of the city and employs nearly 5,200 employees.
Even lying as it does in the middle of an urban area with Minneapolis and St. Paul right next door, Richfield retains a small town flavor. The pace is easy, the streets are clean, City government is accessible, and community spirit runs high. There are strong residential neighborhoods, an excellent public school system, an established infrastructure and amenities like Wood Lake Nature Center make it a community attractive to all ages. There are also over 10 miles of walking trails and parks available for everyone to use. The local farmers market is the third largest in the Twin Cities and runs from May to October.
